What a week in the land of Zilliqa! The ZIL token saw a parabolic rise in price, and the week culminated in the VIP launch event on April 2 in Miami Florida. At the time of this writing we are waiting for more substantive updates about Metapolis and public access from the Zilliqa team.
Metaverse-as-a-Service Launch
Metapolis is being billed as a Metaverse-as-a-Service (MaaS) and as such the April 2 VIP launch event was likely meant to be investor-focused and a time to finalize in-progress partnerships and forge new ones within a networking context.
It is the opinion of this reporter that the partnerships being created at this event will build upon the previously-announced partnerships around exchanges, on/off ramps, dApps, NFTs, gaming and Esports to name just a few, to then create even stronger community and utility for users, creators and businesses that are utilizing the Zilliqa blockchain and associated tokens and networks.
Goals
When asked about Zilliqa’s goals and their vision of where they want to go in an interview live-streamed on YouTube on April 3, 2022, Zilliqa’s Co-Chief Investment Officer Amrit Kumar saw a “need to build products that token holders can and will use”, and went on to state an aim of converting more token holders into users by providing utility through its various offerings, from the Metapolis metaverse, the fast and scalable Zilliqa blockchain technology generally, or the ZIL token to name just a few examples. Mr. Kumar referenced the relatively high percentage of ZIL holders actually using the token (5%) compared to other tokens and blockchains such as Ethereum.
So now the Zilliqa community waits for more updates from the Zilliqa and Metapolis team – Sandra Helou – tweeted on April 1 >
Sandra@sandra_tlibe·After the event we will announce something special that will be taking place for the community. Much appreciation to you all, and a big hello to all newcomers into our ecosystem! #wearetheparty

We can also enjoy some of the video that we have been able to find online related to the event. One 45 second clip showed scenes that presumably showcase some of the designs that can be built in the highly-customizable Metapolis: we can see what look like attractive-looking restaurants, a bucolic woodland scene with a waterfall, a resort-style complex with a swimming pool and palm trees, and an auto dealership floor showcasing high-end cars.
It will be interesting to see how the concepts of high-utility and different layers of user engagement will be translated to and within Zilliqa’s Metapolis. Stay tuned for more updates on this fascinating blockchain project!
